Today (July 28, 2022), we celebrate Nature Conservation Day. This day stresses the need for preserving a healthy environment and natural resources to maintain a stable and healthy society.
Earth’s natural resources include air, minerals, plants, soil, water, and wildlife. Conservation is the care and protection of these resources so that they can be preserved for future generations. It includes maintaining diversity of species and ecosystems, as well as functions of the environment.
Every industry and individual has an opportunity to be part of this change, that’s why we are rooting to make sustainable travel the only kind of travel. Inspiring hotels and travelers worldwide to join the cause, and gain consciousness and responsibility towards their impact on the environment.
How do Eco Hotels & Resorts (EHR) support the environment?
The World Tourism Organization defines sustainable travel as the “management of all resources in such a way that economic, social, and aesthetic needs can be fulfilled while maintaining cultural integrity, essential ecological processes, biological diversity, and life support systems.”
That’s why our mission is aligned with Nature Conservation Day, protecting, preserving, and improving the environment are shared responsibilities and goals.
When talking about sustainable hotels there are six main features that eco-hotels take into account: environment, community, local produce, energy, water, and waste.
Our member hotels are strongly committed to the environment, they have several initiatives to make a positive impact by reducing to the minimum the consumption of natural resources, the expense of energy or emissions, and taking care of the waste treatment so their environmental impact is as low as possible, improving the life quality of local communities.

Our mission is to incentivize an ongoing global movement to increase environmental awareness and to make people around the world more conscious about the choices they make when they travel.
That’s why we organized the first Inspire Event, an exclusive event for Member Hotels where each hotel can share their sustainable practices and future initiatives, as a first step to inspiring new ideas towards sustainability.
Making enough noise to inspire non-members hotels to join EHR and become sustainable hotels helping their local communities, protecting the environment, and making a more significant positive impact.
