ECO HOTELS & RESORTS IS PROUD TO BE PART OF THE WORLD TRAVEL AND TOURISM COUNCIL’S INITIATIVE TO EMPOWER WOMEN IN THE INDUSTRY!

The private sector pledged to increase the female representation of leadership positions by 30-50%.

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has represented the travel & tourism sector globally for over 30 years.

The WTTC has conducted research on the economic impact of travel & tourism and issues such as overcrowding, taxation, policy-making, and many others. All these, to raise awareness in the importance of the travel & tourism worldwide.

The mission of the WTTC is to maximize the inclusive and sustainable growth potential of the industry. By partnering with governments, communities, destinations, and other stakeholders to drive economic development, create jobs, and reduce poverty.

At this year’s global event, the WTTC’s former President & CEO Gloria Guevara unveiled the public-private-academic partnership to promote diversity and drive inclusivity, which will help lead the way to achieve equality for women throughout the travel and tourism sector.

This led to the signing of the WTTC Cancun Women’s Declaration to support women. Recognizing their contribution around the world and the importance of an equal environment to enable them to thrive as leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators.

“Globally, women have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic which has exacerbated the pay gap, the opportunity gap and the shocking lack of senior positions and leadership roles across the Travel & Tourism sector.” –  Gloria Guevara, WTTC former President & CEO.

The private sector pledged to increase the female representation of leadership positions by 30-50%. Also, aims to increase by a third the representation of women in board levels and C-suites, by 2030.

Eco Hotels & Resorts, Mexican Caribbean, Hilton, Carnival Corporation, Apple Leisure Group, Intrepid, Expedia, IHG, Barcelona Tourism amongst signatories.
